Quick trip to Gatlinburg

Jess had about one day off extra in between jobs, so we decided to head to Gatlinburg for two days and one night. (I wrote about our new ministry position here.)

We had such a wonderful experience the first time we went to Gatlinburg, we were hoping for a repeat. Well I can tell you, it was quite a different experience this time. Friday morning we headed out and from the get go it was rocky. A little back story, on the Wednesday before we went on our little get away we started a "constipation clean-out" with Canon. Canon goes potty about every two minutes and this has been going on for about two months now. We took him to the urologist that Monday before we took our trip and they said that if a person is constipated, it makes you use the potty more. So anyway, they wanted us to give him around seven capfuls of miralax a day for two days to clean him out. We did that Wednesday and Thursday and thought we were done. We were WRONG. Friday is when it all hit the fan, while we were in the car I might add. We had to stop off and on the entire way there to change Canon's clothes and clean him up or take him to the bathroom. In the midst of this, Jess and I are not happy with one another. We were arguing about moving. And needless to say, Canon was miserable. It is funny now, but at the time it wasn't. We debated once we got to Gatlinburg if we should just go straight to the hotel and call it a day or if we should go to the aquarium like we had planned. We asked Canon what he was up for and he really wanted to go to the aquarium, so that is what we did. Luckily I had packed a few pull ups and diapers (bless his heart, he couldn't make it to the bathroom half of the time) and a few pairs of clothes, so we were able to go straight to the aquarium. We ended up having a great time, but there were numerous bathroom trips and Canon was pretty puny. We felt so badly for him that we let him pick out anything he wanted in the gift shop and of course let Harper pick out something too. Canon refused to eat anything pretty much all day, but after our time at the aquarium he did eat some mashed potatoes while I ran into Kroger to buy gatorade, pull ups, and zip lock bags to put all the mess in. Ahhh.

We had never taken the kids to an aquarium before, so they were mesmerized by everything.

The next day, we headed to Dollywood. Canon was really puny at the start of the day and had a rough morning after we ate breakfast at the hotel, but perked up after lunch time at Dollywood. We were so thankful for that. It was such a beautiful day and not too crowded. This day went much smoother and we were overall able to enjoy our time!

Canon was finally tall enough to ride the bumper cars!

These two boys love this ride. They mommy wet while trying to film them.

Shooting water cannons at people.

Mommy and Harper waiting for the boys to get done with their ride.

Harper's first carousel ride. She loved it!!

Getting restless while the boys were on a ride.

We are so glad we took the time to get away, even though the first day was stressful and not ideal. I am thankful we were able to do it and be together as a family.

Thanks for being real. :) I think anyone that was honest would admit that they've been there. Poor Canon. James was having similar issues and has been on mirilax for 3 or 4 months now. It took a while to find the right balance with the medecine. I'm glad y'all had a good trip as a family after the initial craziness!
