On the weekend of October 7th we all headed to North Carolina, along with Jess's dad, so Jess could speak at a marriage conference at Ridgecrest. Jess did a wonderful job. I was/am so proud of him.
A few hours after Jess spoke all the men drove back to TN as I went on to Wake Forest for a conference of my own. Before having children I worked as a recreational therapist for a few years before I became a stay at home mom. I am keeping up my certification and licensure in case I want to or need to go back to work. This was a good conference for me to go to since I needed continuing education before November, I would get to go to the conference with a lot of my old co-workers, and see a lot of old friends from our time in NC.
I was nervous about being away so many nights from Canon, but I really did have a great time. I got to see a lot of seminary friends and non seminary friends and it was so fun to catch up with them. I already had missed them so much, but seeing them made me miss them even more. I got to meet new babies, go shopping (by myself), take my time eating, and get ready very leisurely in the mornings. :) I also was able to visit our old church in NC. They of course made me feel so special and it was so refreshing to see them.
I also had a great time seeing my old coworkers. They are so fun to be with and they made the conference tolerable and actually fun! It was fun to talk about work memories and all the crazy stuff we encountered.
What a fun and successful trip! I was sure glad to see Jess and Canon though when I got home!
