Poor Girl

People that know me well know that I am a little neurotic when it comes to germs. I like to think I am just smart. :) I know kids need to build up their immunity, so no lectures please. Lately though my hard work on trying to keep my kids from getting sick is not working for me. Thankfully C has been pretty healthy so far, but H not so much.

In the last six weeks, Harper has had a sinus infection, an ear infection that went into a double ear infection, RSV, and a nasty stomach virus that required a trip to the emergency room this Tuesday. Before Tuesday I had never seen either of my kids be so lethargic. H vomited eleven times in just a few hours. She is one of the most busy kids and all she did for hours was lay on the floor or couch and bat her eyes. She would not look at us when we talked to her or called her name. It was so scary. I called the pediatrician's nurse line and she said if she didn't get better in a few hours to bring her in to the after hour clinic. As soon as the clinic opened I was there. The pediatrician on call told me to wait it out another few hours and if she wasn't improving to take her to the ER. She didn't get any better and it was really starting to make J and me nervous. We decided to hurry and get her to the ER. J had to stay back with C until my father in law got to our house to stay with C while he slept.

To make a long story short, she got some medicine and had an x-ray. After a few hours (and a few tantrums) she was able to hold down some fluids and we were sent home with a zofran prescription. J and I were so glad we took her. She needed to stop vomiting before she got scary dehydrated.

She is still recovering. She has been sleeping a lot, fussy, and not eating. The worst is over and we thank God for His protection over her. We are also thankful no one else has gotten sick (yet, anyway).

These are the faces we have been getting for the last month and a half.

I had taken this Tuesday morning before the nasty virus took over this little girl.

Right before we left for the ER.

Finally starting to feel a tad bit better.

Seeing if she could finally keep some fluids down. I forgot to bring a sippy cup, so they gave her a bottle. I think she was a little confused at first.

I am praying the sickness leaves our home and H especially can build up her immune system. It just makes me so sad...
