What Canon's Been Up To

We have been running around like crazy trying to squeeze in every activity possible before Harper's arrival and running around trying to get ready for her as well. Because we have been so busy I don't want to forget what Canon has been up to.

Canon continues to be such a compassionate and likable kid. He is doing great at Mother's Day Out. His teachers are so complimentary of him and praise him for being smart, a big helper, compassionate toward other children (especially the ones that are criers), their manners boy, and one that follows directions. That makes a momma proud! Supposedly he knows his days of the week as well, but he won't say them to us.

A few things he is into these days are playing trains, he continues to love music and is always turning things into drums or guitars, likes to help momma in the kitchen, likes to play with his tools, likes to play with any time of ball, and has really started imaginative play. He turns our couch into an airplane and likes to "fly" upside down. He turns our dresser handles into steering a boat and likes to put his pirate outfit on from last Halloween. It is so fun to watch him come up with these things, it's quite creative if you ask me. He is also really into acting like he is swimming. He pretends to be Michael Phelps. He sets pillows around and his step stool and jumps off them like he is jumping in the pool. :)

Canon is still a daddy's boy. He loves to read books. He likes to have his back scratched and head rubbed before he goes down for a nap or for bedtime. He loves to listen to his hymn cd while going to sleep. He still drags his blanket and doggie all over the house with him and can't go to sleep with out them. He likes to make people laugh and we can not get enough of his true giggle. Canon is potty trained when we are at home as far as peeing in the potty goes. We are working on him using the restroom outside of the house. We did really well for a week then regressed, but I am very much encouraged lately in the potty training department.

Canon is so excited about his baby sister and asks frequently if she is coming soon. He likes to play in her room. We have had the best conversations about his baby Harper lately. He is a little concerned why she is going to be born with no teeth. ha! He says he is going to hold her, rock her, and help give her a bath, but he will not change her diaper. If we are in a store looking at baby things, he will grab an outfit and say ''Aww look momma!" I have no doubt that he is going to be such a good big brother to Harper.

Lately, we have really been cracking down on bedtime. The bedtime routine was getting out of control and it was a frustrating time in the Rainer household, but we are in a much better place with bedtime and I couldn't be more excited. He used to sleep 12 hours, but now we are at about 10 hours a night with a 1.5 to 2 hour nap. His favorite foods are any type of fruit, though lately he has really been into grapes. He still loves spaghetti and Mexican food. Most of the time he is a pretty good eater (though we are easily distracted by turning our utensils into drums).

Canon is such a joy and I am so thankful God chose me to be his mom.
