Scooo

Canon had his first day of "Scooo" (school) on August 23rd. Canon is participating in a Mother's Day Out program 1 day week at a church. This was a really hard decision for me to send him. Mother's Day Out is big around this town (at least that is how I perceive it). I thought it was crazy to send him this early, but after thinking and praying about it Jess and I decided we thought it would be really good for him (and me). He is such a social child and a very active one at that. He gets bored easily and loves to always be doing something. I had so much anxiousness about him going and trusting other people to take care of my child I lost sleep over it.

I wanted Canon to have the perfect backpack and lunch bag so I started searching months before (yes I am that crazy parent). So the night before his first day I packed his "perfect" backpack with diapers, wipes, extra clothes, and his special stuffed animal and blanket for nap time. Also, the night before, I made blueberry muffins and made a home made card from Jess and me to put on his high chair.

I got up really early that day to get ready and to make him a healthy lunch to put in his "perfect" lunch box. I had to wake Canon up the morning of, but he was happy and ready for the day. We had been talking the week before about it him going to school and we even met his teachers the week before, so that morning we tried to even prepare him more for his first day. We made a big deal out of it and got him all excited! He kept walking around saying "Schoo Schoo" (this is what he calls school) with a big smile on his face. He ate a blueberry muffin with some banana and I read him his card. He kept asking me to read his card, so it was read about 15 times that morning. After a few pictures, we all headed out to drop him off.

He wanted to be carried in but had a smile on his face. But, once we hit the doors to go in and he heard all the deafening cries of children, he no longer wanted anything to do with "scooo". We left him bawling and this momma had tears flowing down her cheeks as we walked to the car. Once I started my busy day full of grocery shopping, cleaning, and getting food ready to take to a cookout I was calm. It really was good to get things done and I knew in all reality he was being taken care of.

I was so ready to pick him up when it was time though. I missed him so much! When I walked to the door he was snuggling his blanket and doggie stuffed animal and he came crying to me once he saw me. His teachers said he had a good day. He was the only one in the class that didn't take a nap (big surprise, ha), but they said he was quiet and didn't disrupt the other children. They ended up taking him on a stroller ride while the others slept. They said he asked for mommy and daddy throughout the day, but didn't cry much. They handed me his backpack, lunch box, and a picture of his hand dipped in paint and we headed home to take a nap.

I am so proud of him!
