Rainer School of Art

In the last couple of weeks our schedule during the day just hasn't been working for us. Canon seems to be getting bored easily and with that comes a mischievous little boy. ;) I don't want TV to become excessive either which could easily happen if I let it. He has also only been taking a 45 minute nap (or none at all) the last couple of weeks, so I knew I needed to get a game plan.

In the last week or so I have been proactive in researching and finding activities Can Man can start participating in. He is such an active child and is pretty smart, so I think this will be really fun for him (and me)! I don't want to be rigid about the activities like he is in school or anything, but I want activities readily available I can do at any time.

I made a list of about 15 to 20 different activities I can do through this fall season. I made a list of all the supplies and went through all my craft boxes to see what supplies I already had. Then, I went to the store and got the supplies I didn't have.

Here are a few activities we have ready to do - paint a pumpkin, cut a pumpkin open and clean out the inside (maybe bake some seeds), trace leaves under white paper, take a nature walk, race car painting (put paint on white paper in a box and put little box cars in and move the box back and forth), hand print turkey, hand print tree of thanks, race marbles (cut a swim noodle in half long ways and race marbles), continue to work on colors and ABCs through painting, reading, and flash cards.
There are a lot more I just can't remember all of them off hand. Some of these ideas came from pinterest.

I am excited. We have already tried a few activities.

Here is Canon with shaving cream (the cheap foam kind). I just put some on a cookie sheet and gave him some utensils and let him go to town. It didn't last as long as I would have liked it to, but it was fun.
The apron is from the Dollar Tree. It fits perfectly. I wish I would have bought a couple more.

Here is Canon trying out water colors. He loved it and it entertained him for an hour!

I baked some homemade chocolate chip cookies while he was painting. Canon got a warm cookie while taking a break from painting.

Let me know what activities you do with your child or of any good resources out there.
