Swim Lessons

Canon started swim lessons a few weeks ago and just finished this past Wednesday. Fortunately, we found a young lady (through a mutual friend) that gave Canon private lessons at her parent's house. With Canon being so timid in the water before swim lessons, I did not feel comfortable putting him in a big class at the YMCA.
Poor Miss Olivia had no idea what she had signed up for. Kidding, but not really. Canon is one determined little boy and if he doesn't want to jump in off the side, he is going to fight you for 6 out of the 8 lessons until he decides he wants to do it. :) With that said, he made MAJOR improvement. Before lessons, he would freak out if he went under, would not jump off the side with or without floaties, and uncomfortable if he could not stand in the water. Now he will go under and even ask you to dunk him, he will jump off the side without floaties if you catch him, will jump off the side with floaties without someone catching him and even gets a running start, can even swim to the side a little, and loves to swim around even if he can't touch. We are so proud of him. After swim lessons I would tell him how proud I was of him and he would say, "But I cried mom." I would tell him it is okay to cry, but what I was proud of was that he persevered and didn't quit. He stuck out each lesson and didn't give up. Yes, he did cry (a lot actually), but he never gave up. I pray the Lord will continue to use his strong personality for the good and for sticking things out even when things are really hard and uncomfortable.

Harper and I took walks while Canon had lessons.
