Weekend Getaway!
Two Fridays ago Jess and I packed up the car and headed to see our great friends - The Akins (Paul, Kari, Micah, and Jordan)!! Jess went to middle/high school with Paul and Kari. We were also all at Southeastern Seminary together before Paul and Kari went overseas for two years. Nathan (Paul's brother) was also in town staying with Paul and Kari, so it was a bonus to see him too. We were with Nathan at Seminary for 3 1/2 years and were great friends! Paul and Kari along with their 2 children also came to see and visit with us when I was in the hospital with Will. Such sweet sweet friends!! We had planned to visit them mid February, but canceled due to everything that happened in early Feb. Thursday before we left Canon woke up after 14 hours of sleeping with a high fever. I took him to the dr. and he had an ear infection. Kari and I were on the phone all day trying to figure out if we were still going to come or not. Talked to the dr. about it and he said if it were him he would still go. Kari agreed for us to still come, so we left early Friday morning (fever free I might add)!
Jess and I had been looking forward to this weekend! We just wanted to get away.
I am sad to say I didn't get very many pictures.
Canon and Micah after Kari put soap on their faces. ;) Canon didn't know what to think.

Morning Walk
At the park. Micah - almost 3, Canon - 17 months, Jordan - 10 months

We also got to hang out with another friend Jess went to middle/high school with, Josh Bordas. Josh was an usher in our wedding. Here is a picture of Jessica (Josh's wife), Kari, and me.
The boys minus Nathan. Paul, Josh, and Jess
We had such a wonderful time! It really was so good for Jess and me to get away! We had a relaxing weekend. The boys watched basketball and Kari and me cooked and caught up.
We were also able to attend Brook Hills Church on Sunday to hear David Platt preach before we headed home. Thanks Akins for such a wonderful week! Thank you for letting us be transparent and real with you both! We are thankful for your friendship!
