Milestones
Canon has had a few milestones this past week. The first one is Canon started a little rice cereal this past week. He has only had it a couple of times, but he seems to be taking to it pretty easily. I wasn't quite sure if I wanted to start it, but he is doing well with it. There has been 1 or 2 times he hasn't been too interested, so we just play each night as it comes.

The second milestone has been transitioning Canon from taking most of his naps in the swing to taking the majority of his naps in his crib. This has been very stressful for his mama, but we have made HUGE progress and now I wish I wouldn't have worried about him taking a nap in the swing. Who cares... (For those that don't know - Before these past 2 weeks Canon would NOT take a nap in his crib. No matter what we did, put him in there asleep, sing to him, pat him, have him cry it out - He would NOT do it! But as soon as we would put him in the swing, he was out! )
He is sleeping on his belly now, so he sleeps so much better and so much longer! I am not a fan of the cry it out method, but when I KNOW he is tired I will let him cry it out for a little bit. But lately he hasn't cried at all when I put him down, he just talks to him self and then falls right asleep. I have been trying to be really consistent about having the same routine for the naps - we read books, I sing a few hymns, and we pray and then he goes down in the crib and it seems to be working! We still do take few naps in the swing, but it is usually his last and shortest nap of the day. I am usually cooking and Jess is getting home, so it just works for us!
The third milestone has been Canon has been sleeping much longer at night. Last night he slept through the night without needing our assistance (10 hours)!! 9:15 to 7:15!! The night before he slept 9.5 hrs and the night before that 9 hrs! This is huge because the last 2 weeks he had been waking up 2 times a night and it was taking us over an hour and half to get him back down. Jess and I are so thankful! Last night we didn't get out of bed for 8 hrs. We are both sick with colds, so we didn't sleep well, but hey at least we were able to rest instead of trying to get a 4 month old back to sleep.
The fourth milestone is Canon was able to take a ride in his stroller without the carseat/carrier last night. This really I guess isn't a milestone, but he is now big enough to do it! While we were walking I told Jess I was kind of sad because it just reminded me that he isn't that small anymore. I am so thankful and praise the Lord he is so healthy and growing stronger by the day, but he is just growing up way too fast! It was also a reminder that I need to enjoy every stage he is in because he wont' be in the stage for long.
Thanks for reading!
Love,
Rachel

Way to go Canon!! I'm soooo glad the rice cereal is helping him! Guess that's what he was needing! :)
And way to go Rachel with making him nap in his crib. We still sometimes do the 3rd and shortest nap of the day in our laps (usually Brandon's!) while I'm cooking dinner. It's just easier and it's a special time! :)
Glad he's doing well! He looked so cute at church yesterday.
I am SO glad for you Rachel!!! I knew the cereal might help with the sleeping and I am happy for you that it did :)
